What a great day for us at the Rhodesian Ridgeback Club of Great
Britain's Open Show last weekend, where our judge was breed specialist
Mrs Cilla Saunders.![]() The dogs spent a lot of the time garbed in wet towelling in an effort to keep them cool in the extremely warm weather. What would they have done without us, had they been living on the plains of Southern Africa in similar heat?.........Got a passer by to soak the towelling for them I guess!!!! However, all of this heat didn't seem to affect them with Maestro
winning Open Dog, Best Dog and Reserve Best in Show. Lilly winning Minor
Limit Bitch and to cap it all, both together, with Jean handling
expertly they won the Brace Class!! |

A testing but enjoyable day was had at Southern Counties Championship
Show at the Newbury Showground. The day's early rain decreed that judging would have to take place inside, except that the allocated wet weather ring was barely big enough to show weasels let alone ridgebacks! Another ring was found in a marquee adjacent to that housing the ridgeback benches, with the consequence that most exhibitors spent the day running back and forth in the rain! Despite the cold and wet conditions, Maestro showed himself beautifully, doing everything that Jean asked of him. Our judge was breed specialist Ms G Lawless, under whom he earned a creditable 2nd in Open Dog which was well deserved and we were pleased with. Daughter Lilly, on the other hand, didn't want to play and was unplaced!! |

Lilly's
third birthday!Wishing our lovely Lilly along with siblings Benson, Barney and Zinzi a very happy birthday. Our beautiful puppies now three years old and all grown up; loosely speaking of course!! And we mustn't forget their brother and sister, Lamar and Angel, who never made it this far. We hope you all have an exciting day with lots of treats and fuss. |

Maestro's
sixth birthday!!A very happy birthday to our gentle boy; where have the years gone? It only seems like yesterday that Marita and Maria brought him to us from Sweden. We hope that breeder Eva is as proud of him as we are. He may get some roast beef later!!! |

Rosko's Birthday! Our "Old Boy" is ten years old
today. He is doing OK despite the many ills that have plagued him for
the last five years or so. So treats are the order of this special day
as he reaches double figures! |

| 14.04.2009 | Easter weekend saw one of our rare forays north of
the border. Jean and niece Terri, together with Maestro & Lilly, set out
on Good Friday for two shows; the Hound Association of Scotland
Championship Show on Saturday followed by the Rhodesian Ridgeback Club
of Scotland's Open Show on Sunday.
On Sunday we trundled off to the Scottish Club Show where, not for the first time, the committee had excelled in general organisation, not to mention the excellent home produced lunches on offer. This together with a lovely location and sunny skies made for an excellent day. Our judge was breed specialist Mrs V Thorén of the Rex Ventors Kennel in Sweden who placed Maestro 2nd in Open Dog and Lilly 3rd in Limit Bitch. A very enjoyable if somewhat tiring weekend! |
